The Fonseca Siroco is a dry white port wine that was launched in the 1950s This wine is named after the warm wind coming from North Africa and that blows over the Mediterranean.
In most countries, the Port wines are drunk at the end of the meal. The exception is the white port wine, especially the drier styles, which are a great appetizer.
The Fonseca Siroco is drawn from the classic white grapes for port wine, mainly Malvasia Fina, with smaller proportions of Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato and Arinto, grown in the cooler vineyards and high in the Douro Valley.
To achieve its dry and crisp final fermenting the wine is longer than the other port wine before it is fortified styles. The aging in wooden vats smaller Sirocco gives its smoothness, as well as their attractive ripe fruit flavors and their delicate notes of nuts.
The Sirocco gives an elegant and versatile appetizer, on an outdoor meal on a hot summer day, as the front of the fireplace on a winter night.

The Fonseca Siroco is traditionally served chilled in a glass of white wine as an aperitif. You can also drink in a highball glass with ice, tonic water and a fresh mint leaf or a slice of lemon, making it a refreshing summer drink. Accompanied by salted almonds or olives, is the perfect appetizer.
But that’s not all. The Sirocco brings a dimension of extra flavor to many dishes. For example, add a final touch of Siroco in a hot soup of potato and leek or a cool gazpacho. When you are cooking clams or mussels, use it as a substitute for white wine to give these dishes a unique aromatic touch.
