BLANDY’S HARVEST bual 2002
The Blandy, as the last of the families linked to the origin of Madeira wine trade who still manage the family business founded by their ancestors, are unique in the business of Madeira wines.
The Blandy’s Madeira, managed and owned by the same family for 200 years independent and seven generations, it prevails totally dedicated to the preservation of the production traditions of Madeira wine.
Grape Type
The fact that the year was very rainy and cooler made the 2002 vintage was one of the hardest, requiring a rigorous selection of grapes.
These weather conditions have made the ripening of the grapes was a slower late yielding and low production, which was generally excellent quality.
The grapes of better quality Bual caste provide predominantly the Belfry region and Calheta. Because of the weather conditions that occurred during the maturation process, were grapes from vineyards located in lower elevations, the (natural protection) worth of Calheta which were used to produce this wine.
The remaining hulls with this vintage Bual continue to age in order to be later bottled and bottle racks.
TASTING NOTES
This Bual has a bright golden color with greenish golden color, characteristic bouquet of wood with exotic woods, nuts, dates, vanilla, cocoa and toasted oak. Sweet and full-bodied with medium to long and fresh mouth caramel and vanilla.
STORAGE AND SERVICE
This wine should be stored upright in a dark room, and a constant temperature, ideally up to 16 ° C. It does not require decanting, but this will help to remove any deposit that may have occurred over time in the bottle. It was bottled ready to drink, and preserve its character for several months after opening. Enjoy it slightly chilled, alone or in the company of desserts, especially cakes with fruit, apple pies or pecan nut and cheese with some healing.
