Clear, shiny, coppery brown, with a golden nuance with greenish reflections.
On the nose, very characteristic and exuberant, very ethereal, full of balsamic notes, spice and nuts.
On the palate, very powerful, fresh and concentrated, with a very long aftertaste and nose full of balsamic notes, exotic woods and old rum.
The grape:
Verdelho was once the most representative variety in the 19th century. XVII, and some even say that it will come from the island.
The musts have moderate sweetness, marked acidity and result in a semi-dry style.
Verdelho 1976, has the category of Frasqueira. Aging – Canteiro Method.
All the maturation took place in the cellars located in the city center of Funchal, Blandy’s Wine Lodge. This balance results from the oenological choices made throughout the maturation process, in which the wine, which ages in oak casks at room temperature, is transferred from the warmer south-facing warehouses to the cooler warehouses on the north side.
How to store and serve:
Store in a cool, dry place at constant temperature, ideally up to 16ºC, protected from light and in an upright position.
Once bottled, and after a few years of aging in the bottle, the wines can create a natural deposit, which is why we recommend decanting them.
