His mother died when he was very young and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, on a farm.<\/p>\n He quickly diversified his business, trading essentially in agricultural products.<\/p>\n In 1914 he founded the Casa Agr\u00edcola Ven\u00e2ncio da Costa Lima, in Quinta do Anjo. Primarily focused on selling wine, olive oil and grain, later he waws specialised exclusively in the production and sale of wine.
