Quinta do Vesuvio is arguably the most magnificent estate in the Douro valley.
Located in the beautiful and austere region demarcated Port wine in the valley of the Upper Douro, its history dates back to the sixteenth century.
All grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected.
Quinta do Vesuvio is one of the few Douro properties where all wines are made with the traditional treading method in granite mills, the Douro Valley’s largest, and marketed exclusively as Vintage Port from Quinta.
In 1989, Quinta do Vesuvio was purchased by the Symington family whose involvement in the production and marketing of Port began more than a century ago.
Quinta do Vesuvio is now ranked as one of the leading producers of Vintage.
Over the last decade, Quinta do Vesuvio has amassed an impressive number of awards at international wine competitions around the world.
Serving Suggestions
While it is generally accepted that the ideal matching wine Vintage is the Stilton cheese, Quinta do Vesuvio 1989 is also delicious when enjoyed alone or to accompany soft cheeses in general (eg Camembert or Brie).
Save
Store the bottle horizontally in a dark place with constant temperature, ideally between 12ºC and 16ºC.
Decant
Place the bottle stand 20 to 30 minutes before decanting. Take the cork with a continuous motion and let the garrafan stand for a few moments.
Clean the neck and the wine into a clean decanter, stopping only when you begin to notice the first signs of sediment. You can also use a decanting funnel.
