Wine Gloria Reynolds Red Magnum 1.5 Liters
Region: Alentejo, Portugal
The Vine, Figueira de Cima – Forty hectares of vineyard on top of the hill, provides adequate, natural drainage and excellent sun exposure.
Schist soils and the difference in levels produce a marked thermal variation over the 24 hours, favoring the maturation of the grape.
Perfect setting for Reynolds to grow specialty grapes. The main varieties are the traditional ones of the region: Trincadeira, Aragonês, Alfrocheiro, Arinto and Alicante Bouschet, the latter introduced in Portugal by the Reynolds family more than a century and a half ago and still used as the basis of their red wines.
The Reynolds Wine Growers estate is located next to the natural park of Serra de S. Mamede, close to Portalegre, a place of enormous beauty, two hundred hectares of meadows streaked with green, gold and intense brown.
The view is filled with sky and mountains, the oaks and cork oaks are like herds in the landscape.
The cellar is next to the vineyard, suitable for the harvest.
The wine cellar is located in an old building, used in the past as an oxen stable.
The reconstruction and transformation fully respect the original structure: thick stone walls, chestnut wood ceilings and slate floors. Ideal place for the production of excellent wines, with an average temperature of less than 20ºC and a good level of permanent humidity.
Large French oak vats, manufactured especially for this winery by the prestigious French cooperage Seguin Moreau, are used in the vinification, as with the large “Chateaux”.
During the harvest, each grape variety is harvested by hand in small quantities, then fermented in the vats by decanting, without stepping, in a completely manual process.
The aging of the wines is done by grape varieties separately in French oak barrels from the same cooperage as the vats.
The combination of the different grape varieties takes place only and immediately before bottling the wine.
The quality of the wines allows them to be present on all continents and in some of the best restaurants in the world.
Due to the high quality of the grapes, the wines are almost free of sulphites.
They are produced with a concentration of fruit and strict hygiene to last for decades.
The wines have been highly rated by reputable international publications, such as Wine Enthusiast & Robert Parker.
