“The 1991 Guimaraens is the most impressive bottle I have tasted of this offering. The opaque purple color, and sweet, copious aromas of cassis, licorice, and flowers, are Followed by the supple. Rich, full bodied, precocious tasting port That Is already easy to drink. … It is extremely impressive because of its sumptuous texture and rich, pure fruit. “

“Fine color. Lovely fragrant fruit on the nose. Very ripe and very classy, ??but not quite the strength vintage is true (as in the 1992). Lovely balance. This is cool and composed. Very good acidity. Long. Fragrant. Elegant . Fine. “
NOTES OF THE YEAR
The winter of 1990/1991, generally, was dry until early January, taking place from there, heavy rains until March. April was also damp and flowering took place in May under warm and dry weather.
The summer was hot and dry and the formation of the grapes was excellent, resulting in a lot of fruit in the vineyards. Warm days and cool nights ensured long fermentations with excellent color extraction.
Sugar levels were above normal and continued to increase during the course of the harvest. It rained on September 29 but due to the dryness of the soil, the water did not reach the roots and there was no dilution of color.
The harvest began on the 30th under ideal weather conditions.
