Quinta dos Malvedos is one of the best properties of the Douro, has always been the heart of Graham’s Vintage Ports, providing a great part of the grapes for their production. Over the years, Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas (both owned privately by members of the Symington family) and Quinta das Lages, have contributed to the unique style of Graham’s. The most recent acquisition, Quinta do Tua, complements Malvedos perfectly, giving the Port wines of Graham’s an added dimension.
Tasting Notes
Good color from a deep ruby. Rich and intense nose of ripe red fruits, combined with concentrated floral notes of violets and minty eucalyptus. On the palate, it presents a full-bodied structure, marked tannins and a fruity mouth, long and intense.
The Viticultural Year
The cold and dry winter was followed by a very rainy spring. This was detrimental to flowering, the moderate summer did not help. The unstable gave a time delay in the development of vines about one month. A glorious month of September has transformed what seemed to be a lower quality of Vintage in an exceptional vintage.
