The history of Licóbidos is deeply rooted in family and local tradition. It all began with Abílio Ferreira de Carvalho, who created the first ginjinha recipe in a tavern in the village of Sanguinhal, in Bombarral, whose grocery store and tavern still exist after more than two centuries, preserving the original recipe.

The current company was founded in 1992 to modernize production and agricultural processes. In 2011, Mariquinhas was launched, a brand that won the hearts of the Portuguese, evoking the famous fado singer Amália Rodrigues and her song “A Casa da Mariquinhas”.

At the heart of the brand, the predominant red and filigree heart symbolize family roots, the connection with traditions and the longing for the past and the future.
