Tasting notes
Full-bodied, complex and elegant wine, with an aroma of raisins and essences from stage wood. Due to the great quality of the tannins and woods used, they are wines that have great longevity, needing some time to reveal their full potential.
It has a deep garnet color and a complex and intense aroma, reminiscent of dried plums and ripe strawberries. It also reveals balsamic and “spicy” notes, as well as licorice, cistus and tobacco leaf and, in the mouth, it impresses with its strong freshness, being elegant and very concentrated.
Limited edition of 44,000 bottles.
The year took place under conditions of lack of moisture in the vineyard soil, resulting in low vegetative vigor and the formation of very small berries, which led to an excellent relationship between skin and pulp.
The mild temperatures during the ripening period allowed a slow evolution until harvest. These conditions resulted in a very balanced production at all levels, highlighting the concentration of sugar, acidity, phenolic compounds, and even quantity.
Winemaking:
Selecting the best grapes, coming from plots of vineyards over 35 years old from the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, it was made from the usual Aragonez and Trincadeira grape varieties.
A pre-fermentative skin maceration was carried out, with the aim of enhancing the complexity of this wine.
Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 27ºC and manual pumping over.
The alcoholic fermentations of these varieties were carried out with indigenous yeasts, followed by long post-fermentation skin macerations so that the bouquet of this wine is as complex as its history.
Aged for 18 months in French Oak Balseiros, and 48 months in bottle in the cellars of the Monastery of Santa Maria Scala Coeli.
Each bottle of Pêra-Manca red 2015 will continue to feature a security system that allows the consumer to guarantee its authenticity.
The system consists of a unique code, associated with the use of a holographic image and a control QR Code, from Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda, which allows this entity to trace the seal, incorporated into the bottle capsule, which can be validated at the Clube Pêra-Manca website, thus guaranteeing the purchase of an original bottle.
