Port Wine Fonseca 40 Years Old Tawny 75cl
The Fonseca 40 Years is a lot made of Tawny Port wine extremely rare and old, being prepared in very small amounts.
These Port wines are carefully selected from own estates da Fonseca and some of the best vineyards of the Upper Douro, being aged in oak casks in the company’s cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. The cool and moist climate of Vila Nova de Gaia allows a slow and gentle aging, so important to produce the aromas, the incredible complexity and delicacy that these wonderful wines have.
TASTING NOTES
The Fonseca 40 Years is a wine Tawny Port of very old and very special nature. It has the color olive-ocher characteristic of older Port wines that were aged in cask.
Evaporation decades concentrated this extraordinary wine to transform it almost in essence. Nose incredible power and density, totally dominated by impregnating aromas of fine oak wood. A wine abound where the typical aging in cask aromas: spices like clove cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and licorice, freshly roasted coffee aromas and dried fruit that resemble walnuts and hazelnuts.
An incredible and long finish that leaves a mouthful of flavors of spices, lasting and engaging, as well as a persistent note of fine wine seasoned wood.
