Port Wine Fonseca Tawny 75cl
Region: Douro, Portugal
During the month of January after each harvest, Fonseca separates a reserve of vintage quality Port wines, very concentrated and powerful. These wines are primarily selected from the company’s own estates and evaluated according to its aging potential.
The Fonseca Tawny ages for three years in small wooden barrels in the cellars of Fonseca in Vila Nova de Gaia. As Tawny Port wines get older, they become more blondish because release their deposits in the hull instead of doing so on the bottle. The racking contributes to the oxidation process, responsible for this process to gradually reduce fruit characteristics, passing the wine to acquire characteristics of nuts.
After three years of aging and shortly before bottling, the wines are batched to achieve balance and harmony.
Fonseca of the tawny ports are bottled for immediate consumption.
