Vinification:
The grapes, from our Quinta da Cabreira in Douro Superior, were transported in plastic food boxes and subjected to a rigorous sorting at the entrance to the winery.
After total destemming and slight crushing, the must was transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation vats.
Aging:
Aged in French oak barrels, where it remained for about 16 months.
Tasting Notes:
With a deep ruby color, it presents intense aromas of forest flowers in harmony with soft notes of spice.
In the mouth it starts with excellent volume, proving to be a wine with a serious structure, composed of tannins with a fine and persistent texture.
An engaging wine that very well reflects the typicality of the Syrah variety and ends with excellent freshness and persistence.
For the foundation of Casa do Douro and the Porto Wine Institute, for the 1974 revolution and for joining the European Union (at the time European Economic Community).
Its owners or farmers took care of its development, its projection into foreign trade and the innovation of its working methods.
