The Producer:
José Bento dos Santos, businessman and gastronome, acquired Quinta do Monte d’Oiro, in Alenquer, in 1990. In the 19th century, the Quinta belonged to the Visconde de Chanceleiros, an important figure in Portuguese winemaking, essentially in the work he developed in the fight against phylloxera.
José Bento dos Santos, after analyzing the ecological conditions of the place, opted for the Syrah grape variety, imported directly from France, from the Côtes du Rhone region.
Quinta do Monte d’Oiro began the conversion of the entire vineyard area to the Organic Production Mode (MPB) in 2006, it was the path to implementing its vision: ‘Wines that faithfully express the terroir’.
These are wines that demonstrate a lot of determination, character, good aging and ideal balance to accompany various types of dishes at the table.
