TASTING NOTES
Deep purple color / black. Intense and deep aromas, concentrated fruit and displaying opulent, typical in the style of Fonseca wines.
Rich aromas of black currant and plum, topped with floral notes and spices. Full-bodied and velvety in the mouth with soft and ripe tannins with good grab, to ensure a long fruity finish.

“The age-old Fonseca is still a young creates. It has rich blackberry, cassis and licorice nose with a leather saddle touch, fruitcake and earth. The palate has a sensual input, well integrated tannins, nothing to fail and with notes of blackberry, black olive jam, fig and a touch of plum compote damson. Lovely natural balance, although still to free themselves of their young and portentous body. A Fonseca par excellence. “

“… This bond Port wine, unctuously textured, is one of the concentrated harvest.” “… This result of large-scale, but remarkably well balanced, it’s surprisingly pleasant and accessible (to the standards of Fonseca).”

“Very close, with great character and plum raisins. Full-bodied, moderately sweet and velvety, with great fruit and tannins. Good grip. Very harmonious for a Fonseca.”
NOTES OF THE YEAR
The wet harvest of 1999 was followed by a cold and dry winter. April and May were very moist; half the annual rainfall fell in those two months. June and July were dry.
August continued dry and the first half of the month was extremely hot. The end of August and early September had perfect ripening conditions, with long warm days. A few days of rain between 10 and 18 September produced the ideal conditions and finished the maturation.
The resulting wines were very full-bodied, with intense color and very attractive aromas.
