Port Wine Romariz Vintage 2009 375ml
Half bottle – 37,5cl
Notes on the wine-growing year
2009 was marked by an early start in the vineyard cycle. At Quinta da Roêda, the first buds appeared on 8 March. The entries were strong and the vineyards followed a healthy plant growth. All varieties produced had low fertility and hence a reduced amount of fruit. The painter arrived earlier than usual.
The ripening season started with relatively low temperatures which lasted until July, but in August the weather had become very hot. There has been virtually no rainfall during the summer and remained the dry and hot weather conditions until September.
The combination of dry conditions and the reduced amount of fruit resulted in low yields but with musts with a high concentration of sugars, tannins and color. The harvest began earlier than usual, on 9 September.
Tasting Notes:
Intense purple color. Strong aromas of black fruit and plum with elegant and fragrant nuances. In the mouth is fresh and robust, with plenty of fresh fruit, blackcurrant notes and firm tannins and subtle. Well balanced, robust, good depth of fruit, long finish and pleasant common
