Wine Palmeirim d’ Inglaterra Vinhas Velhas Manuel Veiga Sarmento Red 2020 75cl ( Old Vineyards)
Region: Chaves, DOC Trás-os-Montes
Soil: Granitic origin with sandy texture.
Climate: Temperate with continental characteristics.
Alcohol: 18.4%
Varieties: Old vines, over 80 years old, the varieties Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Touriga Nacional, Bastardo, Tinta Barroca and Castelão were identified.
The plot of 1.1 ha with east-west orientation, planted at an altitude of 350 meters.
Vinification and maturation: Manual harvest. Destemming followed by slight crushing of the berries.
Cold pre-fermentation maceration.
Fermentation with moderate temperature control and gentle manual “pigeage”.
Post-fermentation maceration. Pressing.
Aging of the wine in stainless steel until its bottling, in May 2022.
Tasting Notes:
Ruby color with some intensity.
Fruity aroma with forest notes, in layers, of some complexity and depth.
Palate is concentrated but fresh, with a good structure given by soft tannins. Long finish.
Consumption: It should be enjoyed at a temperature of 16-18ºC. Goes well with strong cheeses, red meats and smoked meats.
We suggest opening the bottle an hour before serving.
Aging potential: by the end of 2035

ancestor of the owners of the farms where this wine was born. From Literature to wine, the distinction remains.
